SUMMARY OF KEY PAPERS
1. Best Paper Award: A Motivation-Experience-Performance
process to understanding Internet consumer behavior: SEM approach
with bootstrapping (“Best Paper Award” from 12th Congress
of International Management Development Association, IMDA)
This study identifies the consumer motivations to the Internet
is universal across cultures, constitutes needs-of-hierarchy in
descending order, beginning with the most importance: e-mail,
information search, chatting, professional works, and e-commerce.
They are communication, community, and commerce. The three basic
elements in Internet consumer behavioral process are motivations,
experience, and performance. Therefore, the ways to motivate e-commerce
consumers are not quite different between cultures, to facilitate
consumer experience through communication and community, and to
increase consumer performance through web transaction experiences.
This study illustrates structural equation modeling (SEM) technique
in testing theories and developing a structural model, with demonstrating
confirmatory factor analysis, bootstrapping, parameter estimation
methods, and comparison of competing nested models.
Key Words
Motivation, Consumer experience, Internet consumer behavior, structural

2. Dissertation of Ph.D.: An Empirical Model for Segmenting
Global Market by the Drivers of Cross-national Diffusion: in the
Internet Service Markets
Global market can be segmented by the drivers of cross-national
diffusion of adoption and response elasticity. Some countries
are fast adopters of the service, whereas some countries require
a lag period to adopt the service. In the case of continuous innovations,
such as Internet services, the network effects, the learning effects,
and the synergy effects drive not only its diffusion but the diffusion
of the earlier generations. In such cases, diffusion will occur
more quickly since consumers have some related knowledge, networked,
and synergistic effects. The diffusion drivers can help marketer
segment global markets more appropriately. With applying new bases,
such as the regional economic blocks, diffusion patterns of adoption,
for segmenting global markets, marketers segment global markets
for practical purposes. Having knowledge the diffusion drivers
of the target market segments can help marketers make mode-of-entry
and order-of-entry decisions and competitive marketing strategies.

3. Journal of Transnational Management Development: Measuring
and Forecasting Market Demand of IT Industry
This study identifies a future growth potential of information
technology (IT) industry and demonstrates time series techniques:
moving average, exponential smoothing and decomposition method,
and regression techniques to forecast IT market demand with optimizing
a prediction power.
The findings are twofold: The first, a transnational IT market
demand will grow in linearity, which will be larger and faster
growth in OECD countries rather than in ASEAN. The second, the
decomposition method is the most precise technique to forecast
a growth potential of IT industry, whereas the multiple regression
model is the most explanatory technique, when the relevant market
indicators: PCs at home and mobile phone subscriber are supported,
to measure the market demand of Internet use.
